Passage of the Day

Sometimes I'm reading a book, or a web page, or some other random form of literature, and I get to a paragraph, or sentence, or page, that just makes me go "wow."  Sometimes they reflect a feeling I have about something, and sometimes they completely take me by surprise.  And other times they're just so true, no matter what I think about them.  Therefore, I have decided to make a page where I put up a passage like that every once in a while.  Initially I tried to actually have a passage every day, but I found that if I did that I had to look too hard.  So from now on, I am only going to put up passages that stick out so much to me that I don't have to look for them; they're just there.  I hope you enjoy them!  I will keep each up for a few entries, but if you miss some, you can always check in the archives!

"That's another thing Nam does to you.  It turns you sentimental...You learn, finally, that you'll die, and so you try to hang on to your own life, that gentle, naive kid you used to be, but then after a while the sentiment takes over, and the sadness, because you know for a fact that you can't ever bring any of it back again.  You just can't.  Those were the days..."
~Tim O'Brien (The Things They Carried)
